IEEE CE Society Future Directions Workshop On IoT Application Development 2017

24-25 November 2017 | PES University - Bangalore South Campus

IEEE IoTAD 2017 is a joint initiative of PES University, Bengaluru, IEEE CE Society Bengaluru Chapter, IEEE RAS Bengaluru Chapter and Future Tech Lab, India. This two-day international workshop will bring together academic and industry experts from India and abroad to share their expertise on IoT Application Development for Smart Cities, Connected Cars, Intelligent Transportation System and much more. The workshop is also endorsed by IEEE CE Society Future Directions Committee.

Workshop Context
The Internet of Things and Smart City initiatives expect to connect 30-50 Billion of smart devices to the Internet creating a connected ecosystem and adding Trillions of USD to the world economy. But the current IoT ecosystem consists of applications that are infrastructure centric, non-interoperable, developed using proprietary modules and cloud based. It is widely acknowledged that the true potential of IoT is in horizontal, open, standardized and secure applications. Thus, the workshop aims at forming a platform to create secure, connected and interoperable consumer IoT applications. We invite participants from Academia and Industry to advance their understanding on IoT application development with a consumer focus. Participating in the workshop will be valuable in terms of professional development, ameliorating your understanding of IoT and Smart Cities, business networking and learning novel areas of research.

Bangalore Chapters of IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) and IEEE Consumer Electronics Society (CESoc) together with PES University and Future Tech Lab, India are organizing the 2017 IEEE IoTAD workshop in PES University, Bengaluru. Future Tech Lab is supporting the workshop through its “Academy for IoT” (A4IoT) initiative, a training and certification program. It equips the participants with an advanced content focusing on the IoT, Smart Cities, Connected Infrastructure and Industrial IoT. Participants will receive a certificate of participation from the organizers.

Workshop Program
The single-track workshop program spans across two days, includes four industry keynotes, and interactive sessions on ideation and hands-on sessions of rapid prototyping on IoT application development. Day one focuses on knowledge and perspectives on IoT security, Artificial Intelligence, Business Visions and IoT Strategies landscape. Day two follows up with an IoT prototyping problem, requirements study, solution building, coding and testing. The prototyping experience will enable the participants to build real solutions in their domains with a potential for implementing the solutions within a short time to the market.

Who Should Attend?
The international workshop on IoT is designed to provide a functional yet hands-on exposure to ongoing IoT applications, protocols and solutions. Industry sectors intending to develop IoT skills, SMEs, students, researchers and academics, and IoT enthusiasts will benefit substantially from IEEE IoTAD 2017.
